Weight Watchers 10 percent [19 Jan 2007|01:30pm]

As of last saterday, I made my 10% weight loss goal of losing 28 pounds. I told some freinds at church, and my sister in law, and they were less than suppportive- I got, wow that was fast in a dubious way from people. What the heck/? that was only 2 pounds per week if you average it out.
This week Ive been sick, and struggling with the outrageous snacking. I am sure I have slid a bit.If for nothing else, I havent been tracking points. (yikes!!) I have only been to the gym 3 times this week. Thats a big drop from going 5-9 times in a week. I think I need a new little goal, like that 10 percent was. Not sure what to make it though. My initial WW starting point was 277.6 pounds. I have an ultimate goal of getting to 160, wich is decent for my height. Right now, that feels impossible. In fact, just getting in the 240's feels like its taking forever.
I think Im going to get off my feeling sick and also sorry for my self hiney and go to the gym.

2. Where do you live?

Currently living in Baltimore MD, hoping to move to Bklyn in the fall.

3. Why did you join this group?

Looking for some moral support, some tips, some sharing of my (sadly extensive) experience on WW ;)

4. What is your history with dieting and exercise?

Been on various pay diets but the only one I'd personally recommend is WW. I like the Zone (moderate carbs balanced w/ fat and protein) and have incorporated some of the principles into my day to day life.

Exercising is something I haven't done enough of and with my back injury I need to move a little slowly, but I have a weekly walking date with a friend and started a yoga class this past week. Hopefully my infant will cooperate with being left in the babysitting room. *sigh* It's medically necessary but still. Bleah.

5. What is your current weight loss goal, and why? How do you think you're doing?

Would you believe I don't really know? I mean, when people *ask* I say my goal is 161, but that's just because my all time adult low (during college) was 162 and I'd like to be below that. I was 258 when I got pregnant with my youngest child, gained at least 30 lbs during pregnant and (as always) took it all off by 6 weeks postpartum. When he was three months old, I went on a strict diet to identify allergies and made it down to under 200. This week, I dropped the diet to see if he had outgrown them and so far he's doing well, but I want to continue losing, so I'm going onto WW again to keep in the right direction.

How am I doing? Well, if weight loss is the goal, I'm down 60 or so lbs and have gone from size 26 to size 16 and those are getting loose too. But my muscle tone is poor and I'm very weak, as I said, because of a back injury. Working on overall health and fitness is a high priority for this summer. I've got a Monday or Wednesday morning date to go walking with a friend. Tuesday afternoons I usually go out w/ the kids and husband and often get a good bit of walking done. Fridays I'll be taking yoga. Somewhere in there I'm hoping to take a water aerobics class, too. Weekends often have lots of walking involved, and summer is coming and we go to the beach. Ideally, I'd like to fit in one more exercise class on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings, since the gym that I just joined last Monday is walking distance from my house and they do babysitting in the mornings.

6. Do you have any limitations on what you can do? (Time, energy, resources or physical constraints): HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Funny question! Let's see. Three kids (7, 5 and 1), two of them homeschooled. Back injury, depression and asthma. Somewhat limited money. No television or vcr for workouts at home, though I've got a tv tuner card on the pc and am hoping to figure out how to watch the videos on FitTv. And for at least one more week the car will be in the shop. A blessing and a curse -- we're walking more when we go out, but going out less often.

7. What kind of support network do you have currently? Friends, family, a gym near my house.

8. Any tips to share? Not offhand, but maybe later. Today I'm sleepy ;)

Dieting during the holidays [04 Dec 2005|11:05am]
Well it takes all my persistence and drive but I am staying on track so far. I did get a bit of course Thanksgviving weekend but have corrected that and the pounds are moving off. Now weighing 184.5 -185 nto speedy but steady. I will not make my year goal of 175 but hey I am nto going to give up. Slow and Steady wins this race.

Weight watchers and my progress [21 Nov 2005|07:59pm]
As the mother of two college age young women (empty nest)I have found I have plenty of time now to take care of me. My youngest and I joined Weight Watchers on line back in January. The subscription was in her name and she got to weigh in every week but hey it worked. I started at 216 and by early May I was down to 183. I lost the weight so fast that I felt lousy so I stopped dieting for the summer. ( not my brightest idea but hey it all works out in the end.) By time said youngest left for college this fall I was back to 196.5. I rejoined for me only now. My girls can log in and use the site if they chose but that is their business, not mine. I am back to 185.5 now so I have hit my first 10% but alas not my own true 10% in my own log in.

The funny thing is the first time I dieted it really did not show maybe because it came off so fast it did not have time to settle. Now this much later I am down a bra size ( not that most people can notice) and down at least two pant sizes.(that gets noticed!) I am still a big woman have lots to go and figured that LJ might have something to offer and sure enough it does. Just in time to garner some support for the upcoming holidays.

So thanks for being here and I hope to be able to help others too.

I'm new to the community, so I just wanted to say hello. I joined Weight Watchers earlier this year (last week of April) and I'm in Week 2 of my second session. I hit my 10% goal three weeks ago, and I'm still motivated to keep going. I'm hoping to be down 50 pounds by Christmas, and I'm just a little more than halfway there.

My will-power isn't the greatest, so I'm looking for fellow WW groupies to keep up my encouragement (and let me help encourage back!) to keep up the good work.

My name is EleneK also known as Lisa or El. I've been a Weight Watcher member since 7-19-04. Since then I have lost 58.6 pounds. I still would like to loose another 60. I weigh in tonight in about an hour. I just decided to check the interests in the journal to see if there were others out there and sure enough here you are. I am really excited.

I'm a grad student finishing my masters. I'm actually worried about moving and leaving my leader. I love Penny. She's the best. If I go to another meeting I just don't do as well the next week.

Um... I guess that's it. I just wanted to say Hi!!

Hi. I'm new to livejournal, and, it seems, more than twice as old as most of the folks here. But I have lost my 10% at WW, though am a long way from my goal.

I started WW (this time) on January 10. By the time school was out (I'm a teacher), I'd lost about 34 pounds (give or take a couple of tenths). Over the summer I've gained back about six of that. I need to lose a total of 104.

Well, summer vacation's almost over, so I won't have so much free time. I'd had such good intentions with respect to sticking to the diet and exercise over the summer -- well, at least I've stuck with the exercise.

And that's pretty much where I am right now.

I started Weight Watchers on 6/9/04. Since then I have:

lost 48.8 lbs
dropped down from a 26/28 clothing range to a 18/20 range with occassional pieces that are 14/16s.
been able to physically move better
have a better outlook on my health prospects
feel better about myself

With work and luck, I hope to hit the 50lb range in a week or two. One of the milestones in my brain is to at least hit the weight I was when I finished high school- which was about 185, and then get to what is a healthy weight for me. I think I'm close to what I was after I gained the "freshman 15" which in my case was more like a freshman 30.

Start weight 272.8 Current 224.0 Net change -48.8
Start 6/9/04, 10% on 9/15/04 next goal - the next 10 lbs
Decending the decades: 270-6/23, 260-7/8, 250-8/15, 240-10/13, 230-4/13/05

I started a journal la_sirenita for recording my meals and exercise, but also to journal my feelings as I re-start the WW program. I journal what triggers certain feelings and storyboard how things could have been done or how I could have made a better decision. I also write how I feel about eating points that I feel were wasted. But also, writing about successes I had.

I joined WW in '03 weighing 167. I lost 25 pounds and am a true believer to the program.

I had to stop going to meetings since I began grad school. It was very stressful since I was going to work and school both full time. Bad food was all around. But I finished my first year this Spring (all A's by the way) and now I have the summer off (well, I'm still working full time, but I'm off from school). So I rejoined on Tuesday.
I had gained about 6 pounds over that year I was in school. So now I re-joined to lose those 6 pounds and to continue on my way to goal.

Currently I am:
27 years old
148 lbs.

I have 14 lbs to lose for 10% and to put me pretty much at goal.

The reason for this post is to find others who have this kind of journal who would like to make a friend. I want to help and support others but also I know I need support too. So leave a comment and add me if you wish.

Hi, I'm Holly.

I just had my meeting this morning and I lost .4 for a total of 20 lbs and am now a member of the 10% club.

I have been going to weight watchers steady for about 3 months now. I started going with my sister because she had health problems and her doctor suggested ww. she refused to go alone, so I was her escort.

i have gone down a jean size, which was what I really wanted, but now i'm on a roll and eager to lose more!

I own my own photography buisness, and when I can I substitute teach at the high school. these are both professions where I have to dress rather nice and respectful. now that I have lost weight, I look like I am playing dress up in my moms clothes. all my nice blazers and pants are big and bulky and since summer is just around the corner I refuse to buy more. anyone else going through this issue?

Can anyone give me an idea of the points in 1 cup of veggie lasagna. It includes a few noodles, low sugar spaghetti sauce, spinach, mushrooms, tomotoes, onion, fat free ricotta, low fat mozzerella, 1 egg (the whole cake pan) and some seasoning. I only have a small points book. It says lasagna with meat is 6 pts for 1 cup so I was guessing maybe 4??? HELP PLEASE!!!! If there is a few site where I can get point values too I would love the info. Thanks!!!

starting tomorrow [25 Apr 2005|06:43pm]

I read your info page and I believe I fall in technically but then not in other cases. I started my weight loss journey in January at 200 lbs. I just started watching what I ate closer and quit my office job to clean houses (for my son's sake-he is type 1 diabetic and I needed to find something in our tiny home town). Over the last couple of months I have lost 20 lbs (hence the 10%) and weighed in tonight at 180.5. Unfortunatly I have hit a plateau and need a boost. My friend (who does WW and has lost around 20 lbs so far) highly recommended WW and sent me the start up info. I am starting the Weight Watchers point plan tomorrow morning hoping it gives me the boost I need. I will post everything I eat (if I have time) the points my weight etc in my personal journal if anyone is interested. Didnt want to fill up friends pages with that kind of info. I hope it is okay I have joined here. I need all the motivation I can get. Also starting tomorrow I hope to put in more organized exercise instead of just the cleaning (granted it is 4-6 hours a day of hard cleaning) to also give me a boost. I have my 10 year class reunion in about 1 month and I really want to be down another 10 pounds by then. Thanks for reading!!!!

My name is Victoria. I have lost over 50 lbs. I used to have an eating disorder when I was 20. I am now 26. When I stopped my eating disorder, I gained over 80 lbs in 6 months.

I am happy to say since January I have been following the Weight Watchers Core program, and go to the gym for 30 min. a day, 3 times a week. I am not usually a boastful person, but losing that amount of weight in a healthy way.. that is a big deal for me. I conquered a lot of mental/emotional hurdles and won!

I am now at 185. My trainer said at my build/muscle tone/bone structure I shouldn't go under 150. She will let me get to 145, because you tend to gain 5 lbs when you start to maintain.

I don't go to meetings or anything. I bought the Weight Watchers at home kit. Is there a maintenance kit?

Are any of you following the core program? How many of you are @home'ers?

I am getting married in December. That is a very good motivator :>

My next 10% goal is 18.5 lbs is 166.5, that means after that.. I have just one more 10% goal to reach. I hoping to reach it by mid summer.

What do you guys do to reward yourself. I have been taking monthly dayspa trips. Sometimes a facial or massage, or both if they have a special. Facials are part of my wedding prep though, so I was thinking I need to come up with a new reward. The problem with buying new clothes, is that they won't fit eventually.

I think we should start posting 10% stuff, or WW stuff, like recipes, icons, and maybe even quizzes or something? I dont know.

It would be cool to give out rewards to people who join the community, or to when you reach your second 10%, like I could make little ribbons with the peoples names on them and how much they have lost, and they could print them out, or post them in other communities. What do you guys think?

well hello, i just started up this journal again after a 2 year weightloss hiatus. but i'm back and i'm better (and bigger) than ever. so here i go.

i just joined WW on thursday, so today is my second day of doing it. i'm on points, which seems to be working well, but as i said, it's only been 2 days. my first 10% is 17 pounds. in fact, i've broken it all down right here.

current: 170
first goal (10%): 153
second goal (10%): 138
third goal (10%): 125
final goal (4%): 120

i'm 5'1, so if you're thinking that i'm trying to be waif like or anything, i'm not. 120 is about in the middle of what they say i'm supposed to weigh for being so short.

anyway, i'm super excited about this and i was wondering if anyone had any tips for the newbie...things you wished you knew when you started, etc. i would really appreciate it.

and also, if anyone wants a weight loss buddy, i'm in the market for one!

i know i did my intro last night, but now i can't see it - so livejournal must have been lying to me and not posting anything i wrote! arrrgg
so again:
hi! my name is kristen. i did WW last year and in 5 months lost 30 pounds. i stopped losing and that combined with financial problems, led me to stop attending meetings, then i just totally fell of the wagon and gained back all the weight. so i recommited myself february of this year and i'm super happy i'm sticking to it. =)
my 1st 10% is 18.1 pounds. if i keep losing at the rate i'm going now, i could say that'd take me like 3 months. so for may maybe i'd weigh 162.9 to start - my 2nd 10% would be 146.6 at around august. then by november i'd be going for my 3rd 10% 132 which passes my goal of 135. seems so simple and close when i work it out like that. ::sigh::
i'm in it for the long run. so why not
